I didn't know Tom Jacobson well.  Talked to him on Blackhawk message boards, saw him at a few Hawk games, played with him AFTER he had undergone the Whipple procedure upon being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

That is my loss.

I know he was a devoted husband to Amy, and a great father to their daughters, Nicole and Lauren, who play in our Rockford game.

Whether is was because of his nonsense personality, his kindness to help others, or his generosity, just meeting him once or twice, you could tell he was special.  Tom had that little extra to give, and gave it.  Bold, strong, and sometimes blunt, you knew when he said something it was what he believed, not what he thought you wanted to hear.

Whether you liked it or not.

For this disease to take not only Tom, but thousands of others year after year, I am saddened..
