October 2007- Our daughter Rachel said we should do something to honor her late mother, my first wife, Becky Klem. We thought that putting purple tape on my goal sticks would be a good start as Becky liked purple. Friends and coworkers pledged to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network based on my play in November.
October, 2008- Joe Lynch, Captain of the Fighting Leprechauns hockey team says "Bobby, you should have a benefit game. In November, we would play our first game at Line Creek Community Center in Kansas City, MO. We would return in 2009.
November, 2010- Skate received 501 (c)(3) status from the IRS as a public charity. We would hold two games at Pepsi Ice Midwest.
June 2011 - Our friend Tom Jacobson passed away from pancreatic cancer. Chris Zion of Rockford asked if we could hold a benefit game in Tom's memory. In August, we agreed to partner with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs to hold Have A Skate With Bob and the Rockford IceHogs, raising over $24,000 for pancreatic cancer research.
March, 2012 - We partner with the Central Hockey League's Missouri Mavericks, raising over $9,000 for pancreatic cancer research.
August, 2012 - We renew our partnerships with the Hogs and Mavs for the 2012-2013 season.
November 2013- We have our most successful year ever, providing over $28,000 in grants to fight pc
November 2014- Bob dyes his hair to celebrate Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. HASB will go over the $100K mark in donations in Rockford.
